As part of a school project at our ATAL Tinkering Lab, I worked with my team to build a robot for smart farming. The robot could plant seeds and water crops automatically, all controlled through a mobile app. Our goal was to create something that could help farmers save time and effort. We were mentored by the IBM group and attended multiple workshops and sessions on Arduino coding, hardware, and basic robotics. These sessions helped us learn the skills needed to design and build our prototype. Over six months, we created several design models, tested different versions, and improved our robot step by step. It was a great learning experience, from understanding how sensors work to building a fully working system. In the end, we successfully built a smart farming prototype that could make farming easier and more efficient.
